MEET BIC

Starting today you’re going to be seeing a new name:

For the past five years, CTCORE - Organize Now! has organized alongside countless freedom fighters dedicated to dismantling systemic and structural racism in Connecticut, Black liberation, and restorative transformation. We’ve celebrated many wins and learned from just as many losses. And the work has evolved and grown over the years in ways we could not have imagined.
Last year we were excited to share with you some big changes happening within our organization with the announcement of our new leadership team: Ashley Blount, Camelle Scott, and Raven A. Blake. Since then we have had many conversations on what the future of CTCORE can look like and what it should look like. While we remain rooted in justice and liberation, with new leadership comes a new vision, and we are excited and ready to take CTCORE's mission to the next level. That next level is Black Infinity Collective (BIC), the new name, identity, and direction for the organization (now) formerly known as CTCORE.

WHAT WE PRACTICE:

We practice liberation and honor the fluidity of ourselves and the movement. We gather in our complexity, centered in the creation, nurturing, and protection of spaces that strengthen and amplify Black leadership and freedom. We are invested in the survival and nourishment of all Black people through care and healing.

WE BELIEVE:

  • In organizing through a Black Queer Feminist Lens
  • Rest is Revolutionary, especially in a capitalistic society
  • In prioritizing and uplifting other Black leaders and Black-led liberation organizations
  • In self-determination. Black people as individuals and a collective have the right to independently determine our own futures
  • Collaboration is imperative
Over the next few days you’re going to be seeing the name CTCORE less, as the organization transitions fully to our new name: Black Infinity Collective.

SO WHAT'S NEW?

  • New Name, New Org, New Website.
  • The Hold Up 2.0.: Our weekly newsletter, The Hold Up was originally envisioned as a crisis response newsletter to share resources and information to support folx impacted by the pandemic. The Hold Up will continue and resume next week, as an information and resource hub on all things Black Infinity Collective, and happenings from liberation organizations across Connecticut.
  • Advisory Board: Black Infinity Collective will receive direction and guidance from our newly assembled Advisory Board which is comprised of six individuals dedicated to Black liberation with a commitment to centering the lives and experiences of the entire spectrum of Black identities. Join us in welcoming Brittany Fonteno, Jasmine Mendez, Stephanie Luczak, Precious Price, Roberto Irizarry, and Ashli Giles-Perkins to the Collective.
We have poured our entire selves into creating a new identity that accurately depicts the natural evolution of our organization, work, vision, values, and purpose. We want to share our immense gratitude for the dedication, insight, and contributions of the leaders who contributed to this process. 🖤
We’re so excited to start this next chapter and to share what we’ve always known: Black folx are Infinite.
In Solidarity and Black Love,
Black Infinity Collective
