Black August

In the spirit of renewal, reflection, resistance, and remembrance, Black August has come to represent a powerful and poignant time for our community. At Black Infinity Collective (BIC), August overflows with the rich tapestry of Black resistance history and weaves together tales of struggle and triumph. From the indomitable spirit of the Haitian Revolution to the defiant Nat Turner Rebellion; from the Underground Railroad's secret passages to the transformative March on Washington, Black August resonates with stories of courage and resilience.

In honoring this sacred time, we commemorate the legacy of George Jackson. We recognize his revolutionary spirit as part of an unyielding lineage of Black resistance and sacrifice throughout the ages. As we remember those who came before us, we also celebrate the births of visionary leaders such as Marcus Garvey, Russell Maroon Shoatz, and Fred Hampton, who illuminated the paths of hope and change.

During Black August, Black Infinity Collective passionately embraces Black stories and histories, delving into the profound insights of radical thinkers, and fostering transformative study groups and dialogues. In sharing challenges and practices of Black joy, growth, and healing, BIC strives to create a nurturing space that allows these ongoing practices that empower and uplift the Black community.

We take this time to unite in solidarity, drawing strength from an enduring legacy of Black resistance., as We continue the struggle for justice, liberation, and a future defined by hope and equality. Together, we honor the past, seize the present, and shape the future for generations to come.

  • A Manmade Martyr. By James Davis III
